FX Hedging
How can my business protect itself against exchange rate changes?
You can use an FX option to agree an exchange rate for a future payment. You pay a premium for the right to exchange a set amount at that rate before the option expires. If the market gives you a better rate, you can choose not to use the option. The premium remains the cost of buying that choice.
What is onchain FX hedging?
Onchain FX hedging uses blockchain contracts to record an option's terms and manage its collateral and settlement. Through Ledig, approved buyers and option writers agree a currency pair, amount, exchange rate and expiry. You can review those terms before buying an option.
Conversions
How do I convert USDT or USDC into local currency?
Choose the stablecoin, local currency and amount in your Ledig dashboard or through your API integration. Review the quote and follow the funding instructions. Once the funds are received and the required checks are complete, Ledig converts them and settles through the available route. You can also request a quote through the RFQ service.
Can I buy USDT or USDC using local currency?
Yes, on supported routes. Choose the local currency and stablecoin, enter the amount and review the quote. Follow the payment instructions, then receive the stablecoins in the approved wallet or destination for your trade.
Should I use instant conversion or request a quote?
Use instant conversion when a quote is available for the currencies and amount you want to exchange. Use a request for quote (RFQ) when you need Ledig to quote for your trade and confirm its funding and settlement terms. Both can support large transactions. The choice depends on your currencies, available liquidity and settlement needs.
Payments & Accounts
Which markets and currencies does Ledig support?
Ledig supports currency routes for Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Rwanda, Egypt, Malawi, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa and Angola.
Supported currencies also include West African CFA francs (XOF), Central African CFA francs (XAF), pounds sterling (GBP), US dollars (USD), euros (EUR) and Chinese renminbi (RMB). We also support the stablecoins USDT and USDC.
Availability depends on the product and payment route. Contact us with the currencies you want to send and receive so we can confirm the options for your business. Currency coverage does not mean every service is available in every country.
How long do conversions and international payments take?
Settlement can be instant or take until the next business day (T+1), depending on the product and route. Completing a conversion does not always mean the recipient's bank has received the money. Check the settlement timing for your route before confirming the transaction.
Can I accept stablecoin payments and receive local currency in my bank account?
Yes, through supported collection and settlement routes. Your customer pays using the stablecoin receiving details provided for your business. The funds can then be converted into local currency and paid to your designated bank account. The available setup depends on your market and business activity.
Can I pay overseas suppliers in local currency using stablecoins?
Yes, where the payment route is supported. Fund the payment with an accepted stablecoin and provide your supplier's payment details. Ledig converts and sends the funds through the agreed route. A supplier receiving money in a bank account does not need a crypto wallet.
What is a virtual account, and how do I use it to receive payments?
A virtual account gives your business receiving details for supported local payments. Share those details with the approved payer, then use the payment record and reference to identify the funds received. Once funds are available, you can use supported conversion or payout services. The receiving setup varies by market and provider.

Use Ledig's APIs to connect supported conversions, collections, payouts, wallets and virtual accounts to your own software. Tell us which services and markets you need. We will confirm what is available and guide your team through integration and testing.
Can I offer Ledig services under my own brand?
Yes. Ledig's white label services let you offer agreed payments, wallets, virtual accounts and currency conversion under your own brand. We confirm the products, markets and responsibilities with your team during onboarding.
